First Quarter 2013 Austin Real Estate Market Update

As predicted Austin’s real estate market is continuing the trend started over a year ago, with inventories continuing to fall as demand rises. This has caused the market to become very competitive, with homes selling quickly with multiple offers and in many cases for more than list price.

If you want to get a feel for the market just ask a home buyer or buyer’s agent. Frustration is running high as it may take several tries to buy a home in a popular neighborhood. On the bright side, if you’re planning to sell you’ll be pleased, and if you’re upgrading or downsizing you’ll get to experience both sides of the equation.

For investors higher prices mean that you can expect a lower return on rentals and rehab projects.
